Utilities

The Utilities servicing Floyd County provide reliable service at reasonable prices and are available to work with new businesses to find the best types of service plans and rate schedules for your company's individual needs. Floydada Power and Light is owned and operated by the City of Floydada. Lighthouse Electric Cooperative (corporate office located in Floydada) has service present in a 12 county area. Both provide reliable service at reasonable rates.
Water

Floyd County is part of the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District. The City of Floydada obtains its water from the Mackenzie Municipal Water Authority and City Wells, and has a 1.2 million gallon daily capacity.

Telecommunications Capabilities

Telecommunications infrastructure is an important factor in connecting non-urban areas to global markets and information sources. According to the Public Utility Commission of Texas, the following companies service Floydada: Southwestern Bell, NTS Communications, SouthWest Teleconnect, Stage Discount Telephone, Texas Comm South, Verizon Southwest, WorldCom Technologies, Z-Tel Communications, AT&T, and AMA Online. Services offered include ISDN, T-1, and digital switching

The City of Floydada has an Enterprise Zone and both the City of Floydada and Floyd County have Tax Abatement to qualified prospects.

Texas Does Not have a state income tax. Livestock cattle Are Not taxed.


Development The Floydada Technology Center offers technology training and GED instruction to aid in the educational development of residents and the development of our businesses.

Plains, with sub centers in Lubbock, Abilene, Odessa, Amarillo, Wichita Falls and Stephenville. The staff  at SBDC
